Carol Kaufman Segal has had a love of the arts since early childhood.
At the age of 7 she began studying music and dance, won many awards as a performer and was Miss Twin Cities in her hometown of Crystal City/Festus, Missouri. In 1977 she was Mrs. Missouri in the first National Mrs. America Pageant televised nationwide from Las Vegas, NV. After a long career as a real estate broker (she still keeps an active license), she hosted a weekly classical music program over radio station KCSN (KCSN Concert Hall) followed by 10 years as host of Arts In Review at radio station KPFK. Resigning from KPFK in 1998 to move to Northern California, she returned to Los Angeles two years later and became a theatre reviewer for NoHoLA (later renamed MetroLA) She is a regular contributor to The Tolucan Times (writing theatre reviews and special feature articles) and The National Jewish News (writing about the arts and other special interest stories) and hosts a radio program “Speaking of the Arts” over radio station KPFK 90.7 FM. She graduated cum laude from Mission College with a degree in music after her four children had grown and left the nest.
